Love

With the hopes of not falling into the sleepy abyss known as a meat coma, we stopped at the playground before coming home from Black's BBQ last night. It was only about 95ยบ with no real humidity to speak of, so - you know, pleasant. Can I just tell you how wonderful Black's was? Edgar Black was there with his wife Norma Jean and they were celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary complete with a fancy white sheet cake and tiny mylar banner taped up above it that said 'congratulations!' in puffy rainbow letters. She was running around with a fly swatter and he was handing out slices of cake and making sure the bread and utensils got refilled for the dinner rush (in between shaking hands and and talking to all the customers). The walls were lined with trophy taxidermy and rows and rows of pictures from a lifetime of BBQ and happiness together - a lot of big hair, a LOT of meat and a lot of local football. Truth be told, I'm a fussy meat eater and far from a connoisseur, but I would happily eat their brisket and sausage for the rest of my life. If food is love, then theirs is epic. Next time you come down, we'll bring you to Black's and then you can say you've  really been to Texas.
