We finally hit a couple of the local farmer's markets today. Since you have to get up early for them, it was good that we were meeting our friends Wade & Paul there. It kept us honest. The first one we went to was down in Sunset Valley, about 20 minutes outside of town. Instead of being on a farm, this market had lots of vendor tents set up in a parking lot. The next time I go I'm going to have to bring a little extra cash to try some of the grass fed beef and natural pork they had for sale. It's expensive, but something tells me it's worth it.
The next market was Boggy Creek. This one was just a short drive through Austin and was a small market located on an actual farm. It truly was a little slice of heaven over there. Mild temperatures, a small field of salad greens, and snapdragons in bloom greeted us at the front gate. From there we roamed around the corner back to the farmhouse where they had a small stand set up of produce that had been picked this morning. Doesn't get any fresher than that people.
After seeing so much delicious food, Fuzzby decided that he wanted to have some lunch. I found a nice shady spot on a bench around back by some chicken coops to feed him. It was the first time he saw actual live chickens and he was mesmorized. We'll definitely go back...
