I don't know if it's because I have a soft spot for Mary Poppins (I was the 'Bird Woman' two years in a row, second and third grade respectively) but I love, love, love our Kite Festival.
This was our fourth year attending but unfortunately this time the wind was not with us. I called it the Kite 5K because we had to run our butts off to get anything up in the air. But even without wind it's one of my most favorite ways to spend a March afternoon. It's so dang simple, a kite, some wind, good friends and an open patch of grass. I really hope Augie remembers us flying kites together, I would just love that.
Do you all remember that song "Let's Go Fly a Kite" from Mary Poppins? Love that too..
